Arguably the most competitive Elite Amateur field in the world. This division is for REALLY FAST age groupers expecting to place in the top 10 overall amongst amateurs (not top 10 in age group). As the first major race on the U.S. calendar, St. Anthony’s Triathlon has kicked off the triathlon season in North America for the past 26 years. On race day you’ll swim through the brisk waters of Tampa Bay, bike along glimmering waterways and quiet harbors and run through picturesque neighborhoods and past cheering spectators. Race against the world’s top professional triathletes as they compete for $60,000. The event culminates with a festive waterfront awards party featuring live music, great food, cold beer and cool door prizes.
Over the years, St. Anthony's Triathlon has been named "Race of the Year" by USA Triathlon and has served as a qualifier for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship. Athletes from 48 states and 18 countries participated in 2009.
There is no race day registration or packet pick-up. Entry is limited to 4,000 individuals and 150 relay teams. No refunds and no transfers. You may defer your entry to 2011 but must do so by the March 26th deadline. NO EXCEPTIONS.

100th Annual Zephyrhills Founders’ Day Celebration - Parade

As one would guess from the name, Founders’ Day celebrates the founding of Zephyrhills. Zephyrhills traces its origins to Captain H. B. Jeffries, a Civil War veteran who founded the Zephyrhills Colony
Company to establish a place for other veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic.
The town was called Abbott Station at the time but changed its name to Zephyrhills in March 1910. The city itself was not incorporated until November 1914, but the earlier date is used as the basis for
Founders’ Day. Zephyrhills will celebrate its birthday with a threeday
carnival; a daylong Main Street celebration including local
entertainment, children’s games, food and craft vendors, a
two hour parade and a triathlon event. By far, the most colorful and most traditional aspect of Founders’ Day is the Founders’ Day Parade. Thousands of men, women and children line Main Street to watch the floats, marching bands and other units. Paradegoers
scramble for candy and beads as the units roll by.
Each year, the board of directors and staff of Main Street come up with a theme to guide the decorating of parade units. The Founders’ Day theme this year is "Tin Can Tourists: Visions of Zephyrhills."
The Zephyrhills Spring Sprint Triathlon is a new Founders’ Day event held in 2007 for the first time. Seventysix triathletes came to Zephyrhills to compete in the grueling course consisting of a 300yard
swim, an 11mile bike ride and a 5K run. This year the numbers will be higher signaling another successful and high quality event for which Main Street has become known in the community. “We are very excited about the upcoming Founders’ Day weekend,” said Zephyrhills Main Street Director Brenda Welcher. “We start planning immediately after our Founders’ Day for the next year so we can always have new and exciting features. We are so fortunate this year to welcome the Shriners to our parade, also opening ceremonies will include skydivers from Zephyrhills own Skydive City and some new entertainers, new vendors, and a quilt show in the Woman’s Club.”

As the first major race on the U.S. calendar, St. Anthony’s Triathlon has kicked off the triathlon season in North America for the past 26 years. Race against the world’s top professional triathletes as they compete for $60,000. The event culminates with a festive waterfront awards party featuring live music, great food, cold beer and cool door prizes.
Over the years, St. Anthony's Triathlon has been named "Race of the Year" by USA Triathlon and has served as a qualifier for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship. Athletes from 48 states and 18 countries participated in 2009.
There is no race day registration or packet pick-up. Entry is limited to 4,000 individuals and 150 relay teams. No refunds and no transfers. You may defer your entry to 2011 but must do so by the March 26th deadline. NO EXCEPTIONS.

As the first major race on the U.S. calendar, St. Anthony’s Triathlon has kicked off the triathlon season in North America for the past 26 years. On race day you’ll swim through the brisk waters of Tampa Bay, bike along glimmering waterways and quiet harbors and run through picturesque neighborhoods and past cheering spectators. Race against the world’s top professional triathletes as they compete for $60,000. The event culminates with a festive waterfront awards party featuring live music, great food, cold beer and cool door prizes.
Over the years, St. Anthony's Triathlon has been named "Race of the Year" by USA Triathlon and has served as a qualifier for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship. Athletes from 48 states and 18 countries participated in 2009.
There is no race day registration or packet pick-up. Entry is limited to 4,000 individuals and 150 relay teams. No refunds and no transfers. You may defer your entry to 2011 but must do so by the March 26th deadline. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Gasparilla International Film Festival 2010

The Gasparilla International Film Festival (“GIFF”) is one of Florida's largest and fastest growing film festivals. GIFF, organized and operated by the non-profit Tampa Film Institute, is dedicated to expanding art opportunities in the Tampa Bay community through the medium and culture of independent film. GIFF’s specific mission statement is to promote opportunities for film makers and film fans alike to create and enjoy independent film in the Tampa Bay area. GIFF’s most notable contribution to the community is to host an annual, competitive film festival every March in downtown Tampa and South Tampa bringing in over 100 films from around the world, with a sidebar focused on local film. GIFF also brings independent, international programming to the Tampa Bay community year-round through the prestigious Global Lens Series and other independent film screenings.
Filmmakers can submit their films through Without a Box from August through December. Categories include North American Narratives, Florida Film, Feature Documentaries, Latin Panorama, Foreign Features, Foreign Shorts, Young Filmmaker/Student Shorts, Green Initiatives/Alternative Energy, and a Cuban Sidebar, celebrating Tampa's Cuban heritage. GIFF celebrates independent film from around the world, but also strives to highlight the best from Tampa Bay and Florida.
GIFF also hosts fun and informative Educational Panels during the festival and year-round. These educational panels include hands-on seminars, such as Shooting Red and Filmmaker's workshops, as well as advice panels from the families of Hollywood stars that hail from Tampa. GIFF strives to bring the film industry's best and brightest to Tampa Bay. Past industry notables inlcude Armand Assante, Brittany Snow, Terry Moore, Anne Jeffreys, Rod Lurie, and many more.
